MINISTRIES

There is a ministry for everyone

Home Fellowship Groups

Home Fellowship Groups are a great way to get to know one another in the church in a much more informal setting.  We would like to mirror the first church in Acts that met together in their homes often. Home fellowship groups are where we can pray, study, share, and even enjoy some good food together all while loving God by loving His people.  We highly encourage our members to be a part of a home fellowship group in order to practice the calling God has placed on us to "be the church".

"And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts" -- Acts 2:46

Nursing Home Ministry

We believe that God works providentially to accomplish His desires. This is especially true in regards to where our church building happens to be located in relation to our community nursing home.  We are located directly across the street from Miller's Merry Manor. We believe that this is a mission field that seems neglected all too often in today's culture. We have formed many great relationships through this ministry and have seen the fruit of salvation, love, and joy in many ways. God Cares Ministry is a great resource that we have used to equip us with the understanding of how important this ministry is and how to be effective in embracing those seniors in great need of God's love.

Children's Ministry

We believe that it is the church's role to come beside parents and assist them in teaching their children the Word of the Lord in a way that they can understand. We have classes during services for ages 3 to sixth grade with a nursery available for 1 and 2 year-olds. Wednesday services add classes for junior and senior high school as well.

Church at Garrett utilizes the Answers in Genesis curriculum as a part of our teaching in the children's classrooms and ministries. We share in the conviction and belief, in creation rather than evolution. We believe the Word of God, from the very beginning in the book of Genesis to the final book of Revelation, and the importance that "in the beginning, God created.."

Community Outreach

We believe that the local church should be a positive influence in the community. We have several annual events that have become our tradition in order to be involved in the community of Garrett.  Every fall we host a bonfire & hayride and invite the community to free food, hayrides, and other fun and games. But we don't just have things going on at the church facility.  Puppets in the Park, our annual back to school carnival, provides food, fun, and a gospel message along with providing most of the items on the J.E. Ober Elementary school supply list as an outreach to parents. Also, we contribute financially to help other organizations that are helping our community like St. Martin's Health Clinic.  We truly believe that God has called us to much more than meeting in a building once a week.  We believe that through Jesus we can bring positive change to Garrett and the surrounding communities.
